The Academy by DKP
Who We Are
The Academy by DKP provides visual storytelling, arts, and photography education. With over two decades of experience, DKP has partnered with universities, departments of education, and community support organizations to help youth explore their cultural identities. The organization customizes learning experiences for students, teachers, and parent groups, tailoring its programs to meet the unique needs of diverse communities.
Who We Are
Using the Culturally Responsive Sustainable Education framework alongside visual storytelling, arts, and photography, DKP facilitates transformative learning experiences. These programs empower schools and their stakeholders to reimagine their climate and culture in ways that affirm racial, linguistic, and cultural identities. Participants not only explore their own culture and identity but also gain a deeper understanding of how to build equitable and inclusive environments, nurturing culturally responsive learning spaces through the use of multimedia.
What We Do
We offer a comprehensive program designed for up to 15 students per group, starting with an in-person introductory session followed by seven hybrid sessions, each lasting 75 minutes. The program also includes an in-person mobile video editing session and culminates in an engaging in-person film festival. With a flexible calendar and timeframes, our experienced leadership team provides expert consulting and offers customizable one-day workshops to meet the specific needs of participants.
DKP is an ideal partner for a wide range of organizations, including K-12 schools, school district teams, and institutes of higher education. We also collaborate with Parent-Teacher Associations, Parent Associations, School Leadership Teams, District Leadership Teams, and Community Education Councils. Additionally, DKP partners with social service organizations and private agencies committed to fostering cultural identity, equity, and inclusive learning environments.
